Kathmandu. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the final shortlists for the ICC Awards 2024, highlighting outstanding performances in the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year, and ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year.
The nominees for the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy include England’s Harry Brook, who impressed across all formats with explosive batting, and Joe Root, who scored 1,556 Test runs and six centuries. India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who shone in the World Test Championship and T20 World Cup, is also nominated, alongside Australia’s Travis Head, who scored almost 1,400 runs across formats.
In the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt earned nominations after stellar years. Athapaththu captained Sri Lanka to their first Asia Cup title, while Wolvaardt led South Africa to a second consecutive Women’s T20 World Cup final. Amelia Kerr from New Zealand and Annabel Sutherland of Australia also feature after impressive performances with bat and ball.
The shortlist for ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year includes Brook, Root, and Bumrah, along with Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis, who scored over 1,000 Test runs and set numerous records.
Fans can vote for their favorites at icc-cricket.com/awards, with the results combined with votes from the ICC Voting Academy to determine the winners. The awards will be announced in January 2025.
Other categories include ICC Men’s and Women’s Associate Cricketers of the Year, ICC Umpire of the Year, and ICC Teams of the Year. Voting is now open.
