17 October 2024. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to make an explosive return to Sydney with UFC 312, scheduled for Sunday, 9 February 2024, at Qudos Bank Arena. This marks the second Pay-Per-View event as part of a four-year agreement with the New South Wales (NSW) Government and Destination New South Wales.

The official announcement was made today at Hickson Road Reserve by NSW Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Sport Steve Kamper, UFC Vice President for Australia and New Zealand Peter Kloczko, and former UFC Featherweight Champion Alex Volkanovski.
Excitement Builds for UFC 312 in Sydney
“Sydney, Australia – the Octagon is coming back this summer,” Peter Kloczko said. “Expect another thrilling event at Qudos Bank Arena, showcasing top-tier local and international UFC athletes. With strong support from Destination NSW, we’re aiming for another record-breaking performance, following the massive success of UFC 293 in September 2023.”
NSW Premier Chris Minns highlighted the UFC’s return as part of the government’s commitment to securing world-class events. “Last year’s event was a huge success, and we anticipate UFC 312 will elevate Sydney’s reputation as a premier destination for global sporting events.”

Economic Boost for Sydney
Minister for Jobs and Tourism John Graham emphasized the economic impact UFC events bring to the city. “When the Octagon arrives, so do thousands of visitors who fill our hotels, restaurants, and local attractions. Hosting UFC alongside iconic events like Vivid and SXSW demonstrates NSW’s capacity to host blockbuster events that boost our visitor economy.”

UFC’s Impressive History in Sydney
UFC 293, headlined by Adesanya vs. Strickland in September 2023, saw a sell-out crowd of 18,168 and set records as the highest-grossing event in any Australian indoor arena. It attracted a large international audience, with 63% of ticket buyers coming from outside NSW, contributing $57.1 million in economic impact.
Since hosting its first UFC event in 2010, Sydney has become a key destination for the sport, with Australian fighters like Robert Whittaker and Alex Volkanovski reaching champion status. UFC’s popularity in Australia has skyrocketed, with more than 4.3 million fans across Australia and New Zealand.
As anticipation builds for UFC 312, Sydney is poised to deliver another unforgettable event, showcasing the city as a global hotspot for UFC action.
