Day five of the inaugural ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025 in Bangkok produced strong wins for Scotland, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Netherlands, with standout performances and decisive results across all four matches.
Scotland continued their unbeaten streak and remain two points clear at the top of the table. Thailand delivered a world-class bowling display, the UAE wrapped up a quick victory, and the Netherlands posted the tournament’s highest total so far.
Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong Shines With Record Spell
Thailand’s 21-year-old left-arm spinner Thipatcha Putthawong delivered a career-best 5/6, guiding her team to an eight-wicket win over Uganda. With 119 wickets in 80 WT20Is and an average under 10, she is currently the leading bowler globally among players with 100+ T20I wickets and the first to claim a five-wicket haul in this tournament.
Uganda were bowled out for 55 after Thailand chose to field. Only Stephani Namiina (23 off 43) offered resistance. Thailand chased down the target in nine overs, with Nannapat Koncharoenkai (28)* and Nattaya Boochatham (24) finishing the job comfortably.
UAE Cruise to Seven-Wicket Win Over Tanzania
At TCG Bangkok, Tanzania elected to bat but were dismissed for just 46 runs. UAE’s bowlers dominated, with Vaishnave Mahesh (3/7) and Suraksha Kotte (2/10) sharing five wickets.
Captain Esha Oza scored 28 as UAE reached 50/3 in 7.1 overs, sealing a commanding seven-wicket victory.
Netherlands Post Tournament’s Highest Total
The Netherlands bounced back from their loss to PNG by posting 164/6, the highest score of the tournament, against Namibia. Sterre Kalis (47) and Babette de Leede (39) led with the bat.
Namibia’s Yasmeen Khan blasted 41 off 15 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, but her dismissal by Frederique Overdijk halted Namibia’s momentum.
Overdijk (4/18) and Caroline de Lange (3/11) shared seven wickets as Namibia were bowled out for 113, giving the Netherlands a 51-run win.
Scotland Edge PNG in Final-Over Thriller
The last match of the day saw Scotland defeat Papua New Guinea by six wickets in a tense finish. PNG posted 118/8, driven by an excellent 63 from 51 by Hollan Doriga.
Scotland’s chase went down to the second-last ball. Darcey Carter (30 off 40), Ellen Watson (26 off 32) and captain Sarah Bryce (39 off 29)* played key roles. Despite late pressure and multiple run-outs, Scotland reached 121/4 in 19.5 overs to secure their fifth straight win.
