Manchester City have booked their place in the FA Cup final for the third year in a row after securing a commanding 2–0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola’s men got off to a dream start just two minutes into the game when 20-year-old Rico Lewis found the back of the net. The young midfielder latched onto a precise pass from Mateo Kovačić at the edge of the box and calmly slotted the ball past the Forest goalkeeper.
Nottingham Forest, under the guidance of Nuno Espírito Santo, nearly equalized early in the second half. Callum Hudson-Odoi delivered a dangerous ball into the box, but Anthony Elanga’s first-time effort flew narrowly wide of the post.
Moments later, Manchester City doubled their lead. In the 50th minute, Josko Gvardiol rose highest to meet a corner from Omar Marmoush, heading the ball into the net and sealing the result for City.
With this win, Manchester City now set their sights on lifting the prestigious FA Cup trophy for the eighth time in club history. They will face Crystal Palace in the final at Wembley on May 17, 2025. Palace secured their place in the final after defeating Aston Villa 3–0 in the other semi-final.
This match offers City a chance to cap off what has been a mixed season on a high note. After falling short in the Champions League and trailing in the Premier League title race, the FA Cup represents their best opportunity for silverware.
