June 5, 2025-The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the global contenders for the 2024 ICC Development Awards, recognizing exceptional innovation, growth, and impact across Associate Member nations. This year marks a significant milestone, with seven award categories introduced for the first time, including the inaugural ICC X Rexona criiio Festival of the Year.
Launched in 2002, The ICC Development Awards celebrate outstanding efforts in expanding the reach of cricket through participation programs, digital initiatives, and impactful social change projects. The 2024 edition acknowledges the achievements of 24 Associate Members from across five regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and East Asia-Pacific (EAP). These regional winners now advance to the final round of consideration for the Global Awards, which will be determined by an esteemed independent panel featuring Indian cricket legend VVS Laxman, former West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree, former White Ferns wicketkeeper-batter Katey Martin, Head of Marketing at Unilever International Nitin Agarwal, and representatives from ICC Full Members, global media, and partners. The Global Winners will be announced soon on ICC digital platforms following the conclusion of voting.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised the regional winners and emphasized the importance of the Development Awards in highlighting cricket’s transformative power. “For the past 22 years, the ICC Development Awards have celebrated the successes of ICC Associate Members, and it is pleasing to see how much growth in innovation, creativity and inclusivity has taken place with each passing year,” Shah said. “The introduction of the new category ICC X Rexona Criiio Festival of the Year is another step forward, reflecting the global momentum behind women’s cricket. Congratulations to all regional winners as they enter the global stage.”
The regional winners for the ICC Development Initiative of the Year are Cricket Namibia, Brazilian Cricket Association, Malaysian Cricket Association, Persatuan Cricket Indonesia, and Hellenic Cricket Federation (Greece). The winners for ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year include Cricket Sierra Leone, Brazilian Cricket Association, Bhutan Cricket Council Board, Vanuatu Cricket Association, and Cricket España. For ICC Associate Member Men’s Team Performance of the Year, the winners are Uganda Cricket Association, USA Cricket, Emirates Cricket Board, Japan Cricket Association, and Guernsey Cricket. ICC Associate Member Women’s Team Performance of the Year was awarded to Nigeria Cricket Federation, Emirates Cricket Board, Persatuan Cricket Indonesia, and Cricket Scotland. In the ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year category, the recognized regional winners are Cricket Namibia, Bermuda Cricket Board, Cricket Association of Nepal, and Persatuan Cricket Indonesia. The ICC Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year winners include Cricket Kenya, Cricket Chile, Qatar Cricket Association, Persatuan Cricket Indonesia, and Cricket Switzerland. The global shortlist for the ICC X Rexona criiio Festival of the Year includes Tanzania Cricket Association, Cricket Association of Nepal, Emirates Cricket Board, Persatuan Cricket Indonesia, and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation.
