The first edition of the FIFA Futsal World Rankings for 2025, published on April 4, has unveiled significant changes in both the men’s and women’s tables, following 183 women’s matches and 192 men’s games.
In the Women’s Futsal Rankings, Brazil remains the top-ranked team, followed by Spain, Portugal, and Argentina in the top four. Thailand and Italy have climbed in the rankings, with Thailand moving up to 5th (up 1 spot) and Italy rising to 6th (up 2 spots). The biggest climbers include Morocco (up 18 places to 47th), Norway (up 15 spots to 53rd), and France (up 11 spots to 49th). The most notable development in the women’s rankings is the debut of Australia at 59th, following an undefeated streak in their first four official matches, all of which were qualifiers for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025™. Other new entrants in the top 100 include the USA (73rd), England (76th), Senegal (78th), and India (79th). Australia’s strong debut performance has placed them significantly ahead of other newcomers in the rankings.
In the Men’s Futsal Rankings, Brazil maintains its top position, holding a commanding lead over Portugal, who are second. Spain has overtaken Argentina to claim 3rd place, while IR Iran and Morocco have risen to 5th and 6th respectively, pushing Kazakhstan down to 7th. Poland (up 3 spots to 19th) and Armenia (up 11 spots to 20th) are the big newsmakers in the men’s rankings, both breaking into the Top 20 for the first time. Several other teams have made significant improvements, with Bosnia and Herzegovina jumping 12 spots to 36th, Andorra up by 13 spots to 55th, and Latvia advancing 11 spots to 60th. Greece also saw a massive rise, climbing 19 places to 88th. The AFC region hosted the most fixtures since the last ranking update, with Indonesia being a notable riser, up 7 places to 21st.
These updated rankings reflect the ongoing development and competitive nature of futsal across the globe, with exciting new contenders emerging in both men’s and women’s competitions.
