The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the official match schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025, set to take place in Lahore, Pakistan, from April 9 to April 19. The tournament will feature six teams competing in a round-robin format for the final two spots in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be held in India later this year in October and November.
The competition will see four Full Member teams—Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies—contend with Associate Members Scotland and Thailand across two venues in Lahore, The iconic Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground.
Hosts Pakistan will face Ireland at the Gaddafi Stadium, while the West Indies will take on Scotland at LCCA in the opening matches on April 9. The much-anticipated fixture between Pakistan and the West Indies is scheduled as a day-night encounter at Gaddafi Stadium on April 14. Other crucial matches include Bangladesh versus West Indies at LCCA on April 17 and a showdown between subcontinental rivals Pakistan and Bangladesh at LCCA on April 19.
Teams that finished in the top six of the ICC Women’s Championship (2022-25)—Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and hosts India—have already secured their places in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. The teams playing in the qualifier earned their spots based on their rankings in the Women’s Championship, with Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies finishing seventh to tenth, while Thailand and Scotland qualified as the next two highest-ranked teams in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings as of October 28, 2024.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed excitement over the tournament, stating, “We are pleased to announce the match schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025. The six competing teams are just one step away from the Women’s Cricket World Cup, and I am sure they will all be eagerly looking forward to the competition. On behalf of the ICC, I would like to wish the teams all the best for the tournament in Lahore as part of the build-up to the Cricket World Cup later this year.”
