Kathmandu, 2 September. In a historic move, Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This development marks a significant milestone in Shah’s career and is seen as a strategic moment for Indian cricket on the global stage.
However, with his elevation to the ICC’s top position, Shah will have to relinquish his roles as both the BCCI Secretary and the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). According to reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi is the frontrunner to replace Shah as the ACC Chairman. The decision is expected to be formally announced later this year, with sources indicating that Naqvi’s appointment will be confirmed during the next ACC meeting.
“When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term,” a source from PTI revealed. “When Jay Shah steps down, the PCB chief will take over.”
