Sylvinho’s Albania Squad for Euro 2024

6 June, Kathmandu. Albania has had a surprising journey on the way to the European Football Championship in 2024. They are in a very tough group with big football nations like Italy, Spain and Croatia. Even though Albania is a small country, they have some good players and can surprise the other teams.

Former Arsenal and Barcelona player Sylvinho coaches their national team. Having served as an assistant coach in several countries, he started coaching after several years of experience. Despite a rocky start to his tenure as head coach, he has performed well for Albania. Despite winning their qualifying group, it was only their second trip to a major championship.

The team Sylvinho has assembled is well-organized in defense and is difficult to defeat. In qualifying, they conceded only four goals. Berat Djimsiti from Atalanta is one of his players who has played in major tournaments. Besides Italian players, the squad also has players who have played for the Premier League and other big clubs.

Albania has struggled to score goals, finding the net only 12 times during qualifying. As a result, Sylvinho has faced tough decisions regarding the team’s attack. He has opted to include younger players like Armando Broja from Chelsea, despite his recent lack of goals.

Sylvinho’s coaching staff includes experienced former Premier League players, with assistant Pablo Zabaleta having made over 300 Premier League appearances for Manchester City and West Ham.

“While Albania may not be considered one of the top contenders and is ranked 66th in the world, the team spirit is high. Sylvinho mentioned that they do not feel pressured and are looking forward to showcasing their capabilities as a team.”

It is now Albania’s turn to prepare for the upcoming European Championship in 2024, and with a good combination of experience and new talent, they may surprise and do well.
