New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell has claimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings after a record-breaking series against India. Mitchell scored 352 runs in three matches, including a career-best 137 in the final ODI in Indore, helping New Zealand win their first-ever ODI series in India 2-1.
Mitchell’s 845 rating points are the second highest ever by a Kiwi batter, behind Glenn Turner’s 854 in 1983. He had earlier briefly been No.1 in November before being overtaken by Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli, who reclaimed the top spot last week, now trails Mitchell by 50 points.
Other notable movements include Glenn Phillips reaching a career-best 20th position, Will Young climbing 10 places to 44th, and K.L. Rahul entering the top 10. Michael Bracewell also improved across all three ICC lists.
In T20I rankings, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran moved up to 15th, Johnson Charles of the West Indies reached 51st, and spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman advanced in their rankings.
