Will Malajczuk etched his name into the record books after smashing the fastest century in ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup history, powering Australia to a commanding eight wicket victory over Japan.
Chasing 202 in Windhoek, the Australian opener produced a stunning display of aggressive batting, racing to 102 off just 55 balls. His innings, featuring 12 fours and five sixes, dismantled the Japanese bowling attack and ensured Australia completed the chase with ease.
Malajczuk reached his half-century in only 23 deliveries, the quickest ever at an U19 World Cup before going on to break the record for the fastest hundred, bringing up his century from just 51 balls. The remarkable knock accounted for half of Australia’s total and put the result beyond doubt early in the chase.
Opening alongside Nitesh Samuel, Malajczuk helped Australia surge to a 135 run first wicket partnership, setting a dominant platform. He was eventually caught in the deep for 102, with Australia needing just 67 runs.
Samuel remained unbeaten on 60 as Australia reached 204 for two in 29.1 overs, sealing their second victory of the tournament with more than 20 overs to spare and strengthening their position in Group A.
Malajczuk’s explosive innings now stands as one of the most memorable performances in Under-19 World Cup history, underlining Australia’s batting firepower and their credentials as strong contenders in the competition.
