England’s Junior Kpoku, number 6, faced an Independent Disciplinary Committee this morning via video link after receiving a 20-minute red card for foul play in the match between England and Ireland on 30th February 2025. The incident violated Law 9.13.<\/p>\n
The Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Richard Cole (Wales), with former international players David Croft (Australia) and Stefan Terblanche (South Africa) joining him, reviewed the case. They upheld the red card and, in line with World Rugby’s sanctioning guidelines, set the entry point for a six-week suspension.<\/p>\n
However, acknowledging Kpoku\u2019s acceptance of his foul play and considering mitigating factors, the committee reduced the suspension by 50%, resulting in a final sanction of three weeks.<\/p>\n
The suspension will affect the matches on 7 February 2025\u2014England vs France, U20 Six Nations, 15 February 2025\u2014Racing 92 vs Vannes, Top 14 and 21 February 2025\u2014England vs Scotland, U20 Six Nations.*<\/p>\n
Additionally, Kpoku is permitted to apply for the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme, which may allow him to replace the final match of his sanction with this educational opportunity, focused on improving his techniques and addressing the issues that led to the foul play.<\/p>\n
