7 June, Kathmandu. Since launching in 2020, UEFA Playmakers inspired by Disney has provided opportunities for thousands of young girls across Europe to experience the joy of football for the first time, using the magic of Disney storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n

This summer, Disney and Pixar\u2019s newest film \u2013\u00a0Inside Out 2<\/i><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 will join UEFA Playmakers, with the story of Riley and her emotions providing the perfect platform for girls to engage with their own feelings through Playmakers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sequel to the much-loved\u00a0Inside Out, Inside Out 2\u00a0<\/i>releases in cinemas across Europe from June 14th<\/sup>\u00a0and returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as Headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside Out 2<\/span><\/i>\u00a0becomes the latest film to join UEFA Playmakers, alongside Disney\u2019s Academy-Award winning animated musical comedy\u00a0Encanto<\/i><\/b>, Disney and Pixar\u2019s\u00a0The Incredibles 2<\/i><\/b>, Disney\u2019s\u00a0Frozen 2<\/i><\/b>\u00a0and Disney\u2019s\u00a0Moana<\/i><\/b>. This is the first time that UEFA have added a film to UEFA Playmakers to coincide with the theatrical release. This comes as a result of the strong collaboration between UEFA and Disney since the programme launched in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

UEFA Playmakers provides a safe, non-competitive environment for girls to develop their fundamental movement skills and self-esteem.<\/span><\/p>\n

To celebrate the launch of the film, two girls from Wales \u2013 Sophia and Esther (both aged 9) \u2013 who have taken part in UEFA Playmakers, met Amy Poehler (voice of \u201cJoy\u201d) to share their Playmakers experience and their shared love for football.<\/span><\/p>\n

UEFA Playmakers sessions are now held in\u00a047<\/b>\u00a0European national associations in over\u00a05,000<\/b>\u00a0locations. More than\u00a093,200\u00a0<\/b>girls have taken part in the programme that has trained over\u00a06,600<\/b>\u00a0UEFA Playmakers coaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Countries taking part in the UEFA Playmakers programme<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Seven countries were part of the initial pilot phase in February 2020: Austria, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Romania, Scotland and Serbia.<\/span><\/p>\n

In less than four years, an additional 40 countries have also joined the programme: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,\u00a0<\/span>T\u00fcrkiye<\/span>, Ukraine, Wales<\/span><\/p>\n
